Update on NLRB Investigation
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) will
begin its investigation of the alleged unfair labor charges cited
by Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 200 United
on Feb. 5, 2003. Rensselaer’s administration has been in
contact with the NLRB and is eager to cooperate fully with the
NLRB investigation so that employees in this voting unit are permitted
to vote without further delay.
The secret ballot election for the purpose of
determining collective bargaining for all full-time and regular
part-time service and maintenance employees, employed in the Environmental
and Site Services Department at Rensselaer’s campus in Troy,
N.Y., was scheduled to take place on January 16, 2003.
This election was cancelled by the National Labor
Relations Board due to a filing of alleged unfair labor practices
by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU Local 200United).
