Dance Performance
High Frequency Wavelengths, an award-winning dance theater company that focuses on contemporary issues, will present the New York premiere of "Being There," a spoof on the aging American mom, at the RPI Playhouse Saturday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m. Being ThereAdmission is free.
High Frequency Wavelengths, featuring the choreography of artistic director Marilynn Danitz, tours nationally and internationally. They have been invited to arts festivals in Germany, Poland, Japan, China, Taiwan, and throughout the U.S.

So, You Want to Become a Virtual Professor?
The offices of the Provost and Professional and Distance Education, along with the University at Albany, will present a public seminar titled "So, You Want to Become a Virtual Professor?" Friday, Feb. 23, at 3-4:30 p.m. in 318 DCC. Roxanne Hiltz and Murray Turoff, authors of a number of books and papers on asynchronous learning and co-authors of the classic book Learning Networks: A Field Guide to Teaching and Learning, will take part in the presentation and discussion. Business Plan Competition Open to Rensselaer Students
The Severino Center for Technological Entrepreneurship in the Lally School of Management and Technology is calling for entries to its annual $25,000 Rensselaer-Lucent Technologies Student Business Plan Competition.

Faculty members are encouraged to make students aware of this opportunity. Prizes are $3,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place, and $1,000 for third. The first-place finisher in the Lucent competition also will qualify for an additional $20,000 in seed money to launch a new venture.

March 2 is the deadline for executive summaries to be submitted to Jeanne Stefanik at the Severino Center (Room 2304 Pittsburgh Building). Final plans are due April 9 at noon. Finalist presentations will be held April 25 in 4050 CII at 6-9 p.m.

Intellectual Property Career Forum
The Office of Alumni Relations, the Career Development Center, and the Office of Technology Commercialization will host an Intellectual Property Career Forum Friday, Feb. 23, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Heffner Alumni House.

Representatives from law firms, law schools, and the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office will be on hand to take part in a career fair. There also will be a panel discussion on "Why Is IP So Hot?" and breakout sessions on careers in Intellectual Property.
