Rensselaer To Host Nanotechnology Conference Nov. 15-16
“Nanotechnology: Innovation, Opportunity, and Commercialization,” a conference highlighting research and exploring opportunities in commercialization of nanoscience, nanotechnology, nanomedicine, and related science and engineering fields, will be held at Heffner Alumni House on Nov. 15 and 16. The conference is sponsored by the Rensselaer Nanotechnology Center and the Office of Alumni Relations.
The two-day event will bring together researchers from industry, government, and academia, as well as intellectual property practitioners, business and economic development professionals, technology transfer specialists, policymakers, and venture capitalists, along with students. Richard Siegel, the Robert W. Hunt Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and director of the Rensselaer Nanotechnology Center, will open the conference on Monday, Nov. 15 with a 10:30 a.m. keynote address titled “Nanotechnology at Rensselaer From Atoms to Applications Through Nanoscience.” The Honorable Rodney Slater (’97H), former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation and currently a partner in the Washington, D.C. based firm Patton, Boggs LLP, will deliver a keynote address at 2 p.m. on Monday. Tuesday’s session will open with a keynote address by the founder and executive director of U.S. NanoBusiness Alliance, F. Mark Modzelewski. Panel discussions throughout the two days will explore research and development innovations, commercialization opportunities, and intellectual property, regulatory, environmental and policy issues.
