| Rensselaer Supports the Community Through the United Way The Rensselaer campus community continued its strong support for the community beyond campus, by giving generously to the annual United Way of Northeastern New York campaign. Raising more than $135,000, the Institute continues to be recognized among the top contributors to this effort in the region.
"The United Way and its member organizations are a vital part of the safety net which exists for families in crisis. Here in the Capital Region, human service programs supported by the United Way of Northeastern New York help three out of every five families in Albany, Rensselaer, and Saratoga Counties," President Shirley Ann Jackson said at a Nov. 1 recognition lunch for volunteers. "Our contributions to United Way are helping to ensure that that safety net remains strong and far-reaching." United Way donations support area nonprofits working in a range of areas including youth care, elder care, and health. Praising the efforts of the organizing committee and host of volunteers who coordinated this year's outreach, President Jackson noted that "all of you here today, through your dedication, and your gifts of time, effort, money, and services, are helping to create the communities we can all be proud to leave as a legacy to the future." |
