| Out and About: Rensselaer Hosts Women of Diversity Entrepreneurship Conference ""Make every second count," urged Dr. Mae Jemison to a group of more than 450 area entrepreneurs; Rensselaer students, faculty, and staff; and area junior high and high school students at the Women of Diversity Entrepreneurship Conference Nov 3. Jemison, founder of two technology companies and the first African American female astronaut to travel into space, gave the keynote address at the networking event, organized by Rensselaer's Severino Center for Technological Entrepreneurship. Rensselaer President Shirley Ann Jackson gave opening remarks. A lively panel discussion followed by: Cecelia Domingos '03, a Lally MBA graduate and founder and CEO of Orca Gear, which incubated at Rensselaer and is now headquartered in Troy; Angela Hribar, senior vice president of sales and marketing at GlobalSpec, which is located in Rensselaer Technology Park; and Mallar Solai, president and CEO of Solai Cameron Technologies and ComTel Technologies based in Chicago.
