* Roysam To Present Brain Imaging Lecture on Capitol Hill

Badri Roysam, professor of electrical, computer, and systems engineering and biomedical engineering, will co-present "Brain Imaging & Cognitive Science" at a Congressional briefing luncheon on Oct. 18. Sponsored by the Science Coalition, this "Science 101" program aims to provide Congressional members and their staffs with a better understanding of scientific concepts for use in formulating sound science policy.

Roysam will discuss brain imaging technologies that have advanced scientific understanding of human cognition and behavior, including technology for sub-cellular resolution, the structural and functional imaging of brain tissue, and the interaction of microvasculature in the context of external stimuli. He will be co-presenting with Rubin Gur, professor of psychology at University of Pennsylvania and director of the Brain Behavior Laboratory.

Roysam is the director of the Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems at Rensselaer. His research spans many disciplines and includes multidimensional image analysis, optics, high-performance computing, biology/biotechnology, molecular imaging, robotics, and computer-assisted surgery.
