Out and About: EarthFest 2005 Ecologic, Rensselaer's environmental student organization, hosted EarthFest 2005 on April 22 on the Rensselaer campus. "EarthFest is an opportunity to inform the campus and surrounding community about the importance that the environment plays in our everyday lives," said Christopher Kennedy, president of Ecologic. "Rensselaer has long been a center for environmental innovation, from the graduate program in Ecological Economics, Values, and Policy, innovative fuel-cell research, breakthroughs in high-efficiency LEDs and building-integrated solar panels, we are at the forefront. EarthFest is a chance for the Rensselaer community to celebrate these accomplishments." The event featured renewable energy displays, representation from local environmental groups, a vegan barbecue, and live music including performances by Rensselaer student bands Benjikope and the Andrew Eckel Ensemble.
