Campus Celebration Honors Jackson and Dobry March 25
The campus community, along with leaders from government, business, and academe, joined in celebrating the recent achievements of President Shirley Ann Jackson on becoming president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a member of the Board of the New York Stock Exchange, and for Professor Ricardo Dobry on his induction into the National Academy of Engineering. A reception in their honor was held on Thursday, March 25, in the Russell Sage Dining Hall. President Jackson also acknowledged the presence and achievements of several other members of Rensselaer’s faculty and alumni who have been inducted into the national academies, and other honored guests

Dignitaries gathered at the reception included: James Tien '66 (NAE), Richard Lahey '64, (NAE), former NSF Director Erich Bloch, former Rensselaer President Roland Schmitt, former Presidential Science Advisor Frank Press, President Shirley Ann Jackson (NAE),  Martin Glicksman '57 (NAE), Ricardo Dobry (NAE), Ivar Giaever '64 (Nobel Laureate, NAE, NAS), former White House Science Advisor Edward E. David Jr., and Georges Belfort (NAE).
