| Big Red Freakout Feb. 12 At this year's Big Red Freakout, Rensselaer will welcome back members of the 1985 men's National Hockey Championship team to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their NCAA victory. The 1985 squad will be honored on the ice on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 6:45 p.m. prior to the start of the men's ice hockey game against Brown at 7 p.m. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the 1995 men's ice hockey team's ECAC Championship, and members of that team also will be in attendance. In its 28th year, the Big Red Freakout is one of Rensselaer's most colorful traditions. Fans dressed in red, paint their faces, and bring colorful banners to cheer on the hockey team. The annual Big Red Freakout "Ice House," a buffet dinner with a pep rally atmosphere held at the Heffner Alumni House, begins at 4:30 p.m. The cost of $18 per adult and $9 for children ages 5-12 includes the buffet, parking at the Heffner Alumni House, and a free shuttle to the Houston Field House for the game. If game tickets are still available, a combination of game tickets and Ice House can also be purchased for $25 for adults and $13 for children ages 5-12. After the game, the shuttles will bring fans back to the Heffner Alumni House for hot beverages, a cash bar, snacks, and a chance to meet and mingle with the current men's and women's teams and coaches, and members of the championship squads. The weekend events also include the annual Alumni Hockey game, featuring past members of the men's varsity team. The scrimmage, beginning at noon on Saturday in the Houston Field House, is free and open to the public. For those who can't make it to Troy, the Big Red Freakout game is being televised live to locations across the country via the 13th annual Satellite Hockey Telecast.
