President Jackson on Chamber of Commerces Tech Valleys Hot 10 List
Shirley Ann Jackson is on the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerces top 10 list of the most influential individuals responsible for turning the Capital Region into a vibrant high-tech center.
The names appear on the first annual Tech Valleys Hot 10 list, published in the December issue of the Chambers monthly magazine, Visions.
Grand openings and groundbreaking research were a major part of 2003 for Dr. Jackson. In September, Rensselaer broke ground on a $142 million Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center and opened the renovated Rensselaer Nanotechnology Center, the report states. Most recently, faculty and alumni joined Dr. Jackson and technology leaders in opening a Washington, D.C., office to be used as a platform to participate in the decision-making process that affects research universities and their roles in the tech research community.
President Jackson is joined on the Tech Valleys Hot 10 list by state Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno; Thomas DAmbra, chairman and CEO of Albany Molecular Research; University at Albany President Karen Hitchcock; GE Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Immelt; Albany Nanotech Executive Director Alain Kaloyeros; John Kelly III, senior vice president and group executive of Technology Group at IBM; Kelly Lovell, president for the Center for Economic Growth; Michael Polcari, president of International Sematech; and Lyn Taylor, president of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce. The list is based on the selections made by print, television, and radio reporters who cover the region.
