Rensselaer Students Share Their Knowledge at
Tutor Time
Tutor Time, a reading and math tutoring program
conducted by more than 20 Rensselaer student
mentors through the Office of the First-Year Experience, has expanded
to offer free services at two locations to K-9 students in the
Capital Region, and to K-5 students in the Troy School district.
Rensselaer
student tutors are available every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to
4 p.m. on the second floor of the Lansingburgh Library, located
on the corner of 114th Street and 4th Avenue in North Troy.
The program, now in its second year, also includes
a second site - Troy's School 14 located at 1700 Tibbits Avenue.
Tutors are available in the cafeteria there on Saturdays from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m., but services are available only to the K-5
students in the Troy School district.
Tutor Time is part of a larger federal work-study
program called America Reads and America Counts. For more information
on how students, faculty, and staff can become tutors, contact
Cynthia Smith at ext. 6864 or smithc@rpi.edu.
