Tom Baruch Named to Board

Tom Baruch '60, founder and general partner of
CMEA Ventures, began his tenure Dec. 6 as the newest member of
the Rensselaer Board of Trustees. He will serve on the board's
Audit, Information Technology, and Research committees.
Baruch recently made a major gift of $1.5 million
to create the Richard Baruch M.D. Career Development Professor
in biotechnology at Rensselaer.
CMEA Ventures, based in San Francisco, is a venture
capital partnership that makes equity investments in high-technology
companies serving the information technology and the life sciences
industries.
Prior to joining CMEA, Baruch was a founder and
CEO of Microwave Technology Inc. Before that, he managed a dedicated
venture fund at Exxon and was president of the Exxon Materials
Division.
