Football Players, Coach Honored
The Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association
(UCAA) announced its year-end football honors and numerous
Rensselaer studentathletes, along with the head coach,
were recognized.
Among
those honored were sophomore quarterback Dan Cole, who was
named the Offensive Player of the Year, and Joe King, who
was chosen as the Coach of the Year.
Rensselaer placed nine players on the first
team and four more on the All-UCAA Second Team. One player
received an honorable mention.

Coach King, who is in his 13th season at
the helm of the Engineers, led this year's team to its second
perfect regular season record and second NCAA Tournament
in the past three seasons. In the past five years, he has
posted an 85-35-2 overall record and has led the Engineers
to four UCAA Championships, including this season (4-0).
The team, which ended its regular season
with an 8-0 record, competed in the second round of the
NCAA Division III Football Tournament Nov. 26 against Ithaca
College. The Engineers, who earned the top seed and a first-round
bye in the East Region, were defeated 27-10.
