| The Walden Chamber Players,
members of the world-renowned Boston Symphony Orchestra, will perform
selections from Haydn, Scnittke, Mozart, and Dohanyi. This special concert
is part of the Rensselaer Union Classical Concert Series and is underwritten
by the Kodosky Foundation. "We would like to give you the opportunity
to invite the students in your department, your mentees, and even your
families to join you and enjoy this wonderful concert and the festivities
that will follow, all for free!" said Cynthia Smith, associate
dean of the first year experience. Because there are only a limited number of seats available, you should pick up your tickets, from either the Union Administration Office or the Office of the First Year Experience, as soon as possible. Contact Cynthia Smith at smithc@rpi.edu if you have questions. 12/3/01
Clothe-A-Child Campaign Now through Dec. 14, the Union will offer several ways
to participate. A "clothes line" of paper hats, coats, mittens,
and boots will decorate the Union's Lobby area. Gloves and shoes cost
$1 each; hats and coats are $5 each. Candy bars will be sold for $1
each in the Union. And canisters will be located throughout the Union
for loose change. On Tuesday, Dec. 11, there will be a "Basket Bonanza
Silent Auction." You can purchase tickets to bid on your favorite
basket filled with goodies. Baskets will be displayed in the Union West
Lobby 9 a.m.-2 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 8, there will be
a canister pass at the evening's hockey games. And on Thursday, Jan. 31, the Student Appreciation Dinner
will be held. This is a favorite annual event at which faculty and staff
serve a meal to students who are sponsored by campus offices or departments.
To learn more about any of these events, contact the Rensselaer Union at ext 6505 or Maureen Brower at browem@rpi.edu. 12/3/01
