John Brunski, professor of biomedical
engineering has received the Isaiah Lew Memorial Research
Award from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry Research
Foundation. The award, which honors implant pioneer Isaiah
Lew, is given to individuals who have contributed significantly
to research in implant dentistry. Brunski's research deals
with the biomechanical aspects of dental implants. He is
a consultant to the Dental Devices Panel of the Food and
Drug Administration, as well as to national and international
corporations. Brunski is only the third engineer to win
the award. 12/3/01

Rensselaer's Incubator Center and
a recent student startup, ProductivityNet, have been
honored with 2001 Achievement Awards by the Capital District
Business Review. The Incubator received the Special
Achievement Award, which recognizes a company or person
who has had a special impact on the Capital Region business
community. ProductivityNet and its CEO, Vinny Pasceri
'01, won the Most Promising New Enterprise. 12/3/01

Kim Scalzo, director of professional
and distance education, and Susan Bray, assistant
dean of professional and distance education, will receive
the 2001 Continuing Professional Development Best Workshop
Award at the 2002 Conference for Industry/Education Collaboration
(a conference of the American Society for Engineering Education)
to be held in Sarasota, Fla., in February. They, along with
Ed Borbely of the University of Michigan, are being honored
for the collaborative paper they presented on strategic
planning in distance learning organizations, at the 2001
CIEC Conference in San Diego. 12/3/01
