Penguins
The Penguins hockey team signed 1999 draft choice
Matt Murley '02 for the 2002-03 season on Aug. 3. Terms of the
deal were not disclosed per club policy.

In four seasons at Rensselaer, Murley posted 74
goals and 72 assists for 146 points and finished his college career
as the 11th leading scorer in school history and 12th in assists.
A first-team ECAC selection last season, Murley, 22, was also
named the Engineers' MVP after helping the team to a 20-13-4 overall
record and a third-place finish in the ECAC Tournament.
The Troy, N.Y., native tallied 24 goals and 22
assists for 46 points in 32 games this past season. In 20 league
games, he had 14 goals and 14 assists for 28 points with 22 penalty
minutes. In the ECAC, Murley (6'1", 195) finished first in
overall goals (19), second in points (46), and fourth in assists
(22) and power play goals (8). He was first in goals in league
games (14) and second in conference points (28). Nationally, he
was fifth in points per game (1.44) and sixth in goals per game
(0.75).
