Message From the President's Parking
Task Force: Information for Students
As you know, the campus is expanding and
we are building a better Rensselaer. Construction has begun
on the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies
and the parking garage, as well as other major projects.
Before you arrive at Rensselaer this year,
we want to make you aware of where you can park to avoid
the construction site on the south campus and how
you can get to and from campus quickly and safely.
Commuting to Campus?
Please park at the Houston Field House, beginning Aug. 19.
Red Hawk Express Shuttles will be waiting to take you to
the main campus -- see the schedule below. There is a fee
of $20 for commuter students.
Living on Campus?
Please park only in the lots designated for resident students.
NOTE: Only students living in the Quad, North, and E
Residence Halls may park in the yellow striped section of
North Lot.
Take the Shuttle to Campus
Beginning at 7 a.m. until 11 p.m., the Red Hawk Express
Shuttle will stop at the Field House lots to pick up and
drop off passengers. The shuttle then will pick up/drop
off passengers at the Jonsson Engineering Center/CII Lowbay
and at the Student Union (on the Sage Ave. side). We
suggest you arrive at least a half hour before your first
class.
Red Hawk Shuttle Schedule
Find the main campus shuttle schedule at http://squirrel.pt.rpi.edu/shuttle.html.
Shuttle stops are designated by the numbered red dots.
Staying Late?
Many of you may be in the lab or studying late into the
night. After 5 p.m. feel free to move your car from a distant
lot to any legal parking space.
You may also call Public Safety at 276-6656
for a personal safety escort. This service is available
24 hours a day to safely transport you to your car.
Please Register
If you haven't registered your car yet, please do so online
at www.pt.rpi.edu.
Let Us Know
Please let us know how our system is working. We welcome
your input via email at parking@rpi.edu or take our online
survey at http://squirrel.pt.rpi.edu/red_hawk_
shuttle_survey.html.
We thank you for your patience and cooperation
during the construction process, and we share your excitement
in watching the campus grow in size and reputation.
