Expanded Red Hawk Shuttle Ready to Fly
Beginning Monday, Aug. 19, the Department
of Public Safety will debut the campus Red Hawk Shuttle.
The new shuttle system, servicing the main campus, is expected
to alleviate traffic congestion during periods of heavy
construction, and provide convenient, safe, and free transportation
for students, faculty, and staff.

The Red Hawk Shuttle joins the Hedley (or
Downtown) Shuttle, which began service earlier this summer.
Five Red Hawk Shuttles will continuously
service the main campus daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. After
hours, employees can call Public Safety for escort service
at 276-6656.
The shuttles will loop the Field House lots,
picking up passengers, and proceed down Peoples Avenue to
15th Street. Shuttle pick-up and drop-off will be at the
south side of '86 Field (next to the score board); at the
Sage Avenue entrance to the Student Union; and at all Field
House lots. Please refer to the map at http://squirrel.pt.rpi.edu/shuttle.html,
where the red dots denote the sites.
The shuttles will be operated by six full-time
and six part-time drivers trained in CPR, first aid, and
defensive driving, according to parking coordinator Carol
Wagar.
