Helping Hands: Community Service Day

Rensselaer held its fifth annual Community Service Day April 16. More than 115 volunteers, representing staff, faculty, and students, participated at eight different sites around Troy and the surrounding area. Work ranged from general cleanup in Prospect Park, Grafton Park, and Oakwood Cemetery, to painting and cleanup at the Junior Museum, to Habitat for Humanity projects in Cohoes and Albany.

The event was organized by the Office of the First-Year Experience; CDTA provided free transportation and Sodexho provided free lunches. “The event was a huge success, the weather was perfect, and much was accomplished by our wonderful volunteers,” said Cynthia Smith, assistant dean of the first-year experience.
