The 2002 Rensselaer Drill Meet and Military Excellence Competition (MEC) was held on Saturday, April 20, in the Alumni Sports and Recreation Center (Armory) and in '87 Gym. Rensselaer's Air Force and Navy ROTC cadets and midshipmen competed against 13 other colleges from across the nation.

A drill meet includes several different events involving teamwork, intensity, discipline, and precision. Events include the inspection phase — where enlisted officers examine uniform wear, military bearing (demeanor), and general military knowledge — as well as team and individual drill reviews.
