Jerry's Co-Founder To Lecture During GM Week
Jerry Greenfield, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., will
present "An Evening of Entrepreneurial Spirit, Social Responsibility,
and Radical Business Philosophy." The speech, free and open to
the public, will take place 7 p.m. on Friday, April 5. More

Johannes Goebel Visits
Campus
Johannes Goebel, newly named artistic director for Rensselaer's
experimental media and performing arts center, brought his family to
campus last week for a look at his new employer. Goebel, 52, is the
founding director of Germany's Institute for Music and Acoustics (IMA)
at the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie (ZKM) in Karlsruhe.
He will begin his new appointment July 1. More

Hands-On Rensselaer!
More than 300 high school juniors and seniors and their parents descended
upon Rensselaer's campus on Saturday, March 23, for Design Your Future
Day , an annual rite of passage for local young women interested in
science, engineering, and high-tech. The day provides a first-hand experience
in the laboratory and mentoring from female students. More

50
Years of Silence
On Monday, March 25 invited speaker Sigrid Cerf spoke to engineering
students in an Introduction to Voice and Image Processing class
about her personal experience with having a cochlear implant. The
implant has enabled her to hear after 50 years of deafness.
