Lawrence Dick Jr., a graduate student in chemistry, received an award for his presentation at the Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies (FACSS) annual meeting in Portland, Ore., on Oct. 3-7. Dick and Linda McGown, professor and chair of the Chemistry and Chemical Biology Department, presented a paper titled "Aptamer-Enhanced Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization for Affinity Mass Spectrometry." The FACSS award recognized Dick's outstanding contribution by a graduate student.

Martha Grabowski, research professor of decision sciences and engineering systems, was recently awarded the 2004 Outstanding Professional Achievement in Transportation Award by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

A 2004 Mark of Excellence Award from the American Marketing Association was awarded to Rensselaer for the RPI Hockey 2003-2004 marketing strategy. The program was developed and implemented by Office of Communications Account Executive Adam Traver, in conjunction with Sports Information Director Kevin Beattie, Athletics Director Ken Ralph, and Conference Services and Houston Field House Manager Norris Pearson.
