| Rensselaer Vice President for Human Resources Curtis Powell was awarded the Diedrich K. Willers Award by the College University Professional Association (CUPA) for Human Resources, at a conference in Boston, Mass., May 2. The award is for contributions over a period of many years to the cumulative knowledge and stature of the Human Resources (HR) profession within higher education. The award is given to an HR practitioner whose persistent contributions, to the institutions that he/she has served and to the profession, have established him/her as an accepted HR leader with the field of human resource leadership and management. Evelyn Powell, physical and chemical sciences librarian in Rensselaer's Folsom Library, had a paper titled "History and Resources of the National Institute of Standards and Technology" published in Science and Technology Libraries vol. 25 (3), 2005. Rensselaer baseball head coach Karl Steffen, in his 21st year, has reached an impressive milestone, earning his 500th career victory with a recent 6-5 extra innings win over Vassar in game one of a Liberty League doubleheader. Win number 501 came in the nightcap as the Red Hawks scored 23 runs on 26 hits in a 23-2 victory. |
