Reservists/National Guard Members Called to Active Duty Students who are called up should contact the either the Student Experience Office (Undergraduate Students) or Office of Graduate Education (Graduate Students) to request a Leave of Absence. Copies of their orders should be provided with the Leave of Absence request University policy is as follows, according to when call-up occurs:
It is very important that you provide your orders to either the Student Experience Office (Undergraduate Students) or Office of Graduate Education (Graduate Students) as soon as possible in order for the above policy to be in effect. A student returning from a period of active duty should provide a DD 214 to be sent to the Veterans Administration. Once the DD 214 is received by the VA, the student's delimiting date will be extended. University Housing If you live on campus, notify University Housing at (518) 276-6284. Financial Aid If you are receiving any type of financial aid, it is recommended that you contact the Office of Financial Aid to inform that office of your activation. If you have any student loans for this semester, you should do an Exit Interview. More Information You should notify your lender that you are being activated. If you have questions, contact Financial Aid. Readmission of Service Members to Postsecondary Institutions Under the provisions of the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will not deny readmission to a service member and will promptly readmit service members with the same academic status. Our support is intended to minimize the disruption to the lives of persons performing service in the uniformed services, allowing a student to return to an institution without penalty for having left because of such service. |
