| Analytical Biochemistry Core Facility
The Analytical Biochemistry Core Facility at RPI is one of the best equipped research facilities in the northeast. This new facility is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation.
Its mission is to provide service and consultation on many different areas of modern analytical biochemistry to both on and off campus investigators.
Spex® FluoroLog®-Tau -3 Spectrofluorimeter: The Fluorolog-Tau3 performs fluorescence measurements in steady-state and dynamic (frequency domain) mode.
Jasco 815 Spectrometer with BioLogic stopped-flow: The Jasco 815 performs Far-UV CD and Near-UV CD measurements. Additionally performs quick kinetics in Fluorescence and CD mode.
Bruker D8 Discover X-Ray Diffractometer: An excellent powder diffractometer equipped with a thermally controlled stage.
Bruker Nanostar Small-Angle X-Ray Scattering: An incredible versatile instrument which provide information about particle sizes and shapes in liquids, powders and bulk solutions.
Beckman Analytical Ultracentrifuge XL-I: The Xl-I is equipped with UV/Vis detection system to measure absorbance and with Rayleigh Interference Optics.
MicroCal VP-Isothermal Titration Calorimeter (VP-ITC): The VP-ITC system is an ultrasensitive isothermal titration calorimeter designed to measure directly the thermodynamic parameters of biological interactions.
Shimadzu High Pressure Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC): This HPLC generates highly reproducible chromatography while maintaining flexibility.
TA DSC Q100: Differential Scanning Calorimeters (DSC) measures temperatures and heat flows associated with thermal transitions in a material.
TA TGA Q50: Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) measures weight changes in a material as a function of temperature (or time) under a controlled atmosphere.
Wyatt Technology DynaPro Titan Batch Dynamic Light Scattering: Time-dependent fluctuations in the scattered light signal are measured using a fast photon counter.
Perkin Elmer MicroBeta TriLux Liquid Scintillation and Luminescence Counter: Ideal for assays using 3H, 14C, 32P, 33P, 35S, 51Cr, 125I and glow-type luminescence labels.
Biacore 3000: Real-time detection and monitoring of biomolecular binding events.
Rudolph Research Analytical Autopol III Polarimeter: it automatically measures the magnitude and sign of angles through which optically active substances rotate linearly polarized light.
