Visitor and Tour Guidelines for Laboratory
and Core Facilities
A visitor is defined as an RPI or non-RPI person who has not acquired Biosafety and Blood-Borne Pathogen training and who is not involved in actual laboratory research activities.
All visitors to CBIS laboratory facilities must be accompanied at all times by a CBIS resident (“host”), who may be a faculty member, administrator, research employee, postdoc or graduate student.
The host is responsible for the safety of the visitor and, if appropriate, must provide the visitor with a pair of safety glasses, which may be obtained from Nancy Roberts. Lab coats for visitors also will be supplied upon request.
Visitors must refrain from handling laboratory equipment, reagents and supplies.
Visitors should not enter radioactivity procedure rooms, biowaste rooms or the bacterial fermentor room.
