The vice president for administration manages a wide range of responsibilities, including Auxiliary Services, the Physical Plant, Campus Planning and Facility Design, Campus Construction Projects, Procurement and Financial Services, and the Department of Public Safety.

Claude Rounds was vice president for plant management at Albany Medical Center for 15 years. Prior to that, he served the hospital for seven years as manager of plant operations and maintenance. Before joining Albany Medical Center in 1979, Rounds was director of physical plant and facility planning at Hudson Valley Community College. Earlier, he served as Rensselaer County director of environmental health, director of plant operations at Wilton Developmental Center, and as senior building construction engineer for the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene.
