John E. Kolb ’79
Vice President for Information Services and Technology and Chief Information Officer

The chief information officer provides leadership for strategic planning in the acquisition, use, and growth of Rensselaer's campuswide information resources, services, and technology to support education, research, and administrative activities.

John Kolb '79 has been part of the Rensselaer community in a variety of responsibilities for more than twenty years. Kolb received both his bachelor's and his master's in electrical engineering from the Institute and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of New York. He has taught courses in the schools of Engineering, Science, Management, and the IT program. He has served as manager of operations for the Center for Interactive Computer Graphics, director of Engineering Computing Services, as assistant dean and head of the Core Engineering program in the School of Engineering, and as dean of Computing and Information Services.
