Alan Cramb
Engineering

Alan Cramb, professor and dean of the School of Engineering, completed his Ph.D. in Materials Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Cramb, whose career spans both industry and academia, was professor and head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He has been active in professional societies, including the Iron and Steel Society (president, 2000), the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum Engineers (president-elect), and the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. He is the recipient of the Carnegie Lecturer, American Society for Materials, and the Benjamin F. Fairless Award, a major award of AIME, earning both honors in 2003.
