Dear Parents and Family Members:

As a new academic year begins, I invite you to celebrate all that Rensselaer has to offer by joining us on campus October 28–30 for Family Weekend 2011. This weekend has been created for you, our extended family, and we hope to give you the opportunity to experience campus in a variety of ways.

We are looking forward to an exciting weekend this year, filled with events designed to showcase students, academics, arts, and the community. There will be many opportunities to cheer for the Engineers with two Men’s Ice Hockey games, as well as several other athletic contests throughout the weekend. You will have the chance to experience campus life through entertainment by our student groups, learn more about the opportunities for undergraduate research and study abroad, tour a state-of-the-art research laboratory, and learn about how your student can get even more involved on campus. During Family Weekend, we encourage you to explore the historic city of Troy; use your Parent Discount Card to patronize local establishments and discover all that Troy has to offer. With a variety of activities throughout the weekend, there is sure to be something for everyone!

I look forward to seeing you on campus in October.

Best wishes,

Shirley Ann Jackson, Ph.D.
President, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
