BusinessWeek Ranks Corporate Strategy Program Number One March 28, 2008: The Lally School of Management & Technology is number one in the nation in the area of corporate strategy, according to BusinessWeek. Nearly 80,000 business majors at 127 schools ranked their programs. Rensselaer’s Graduate Programs Rank Among the Best in the Nation March 28, 2008: Rensselaer’s graduate programs in engineering and the fine arts rank among the best in the nation, according to the 2009 U.S.News & World Report guide to “America’s Best Graduate Schools.” Rensselaer To Increase Financial Aid Resources for Students March 12, 2008: Rensselaer will add more than $10 million in new financial aid resources for undergraduate students during the coming year. The action responds to the need to ensure that Rensselaer remains accessible to academically talented students from the full range of family financial circumstances. Rensselaer’s Lally School Rises in BusinessWeek Rankings of Top Undergraduate Business Programs February 29, 2008: BusinessWeek has ranked Rensselaer’s Lally School of Management & Technology 26th in the nation among the magazine’s 2008 list of top 50 undergraduate business programs. At Rensselaer, Freshman Applications Jump 100 Percent in Three Years January 17, 2008: More than 11,000 high school students have filed applications to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The record number of applications for 2008 is up 10 percent from the previous year, and it is more than double the number received just three years ago in 2005. Web Language and Artificial Intelligence Expert Joins Tetherless World Research Constellation October 16, 2007: A leading expert in Web research, Deborah L. McGuinness, joins Rensselaer as an endowed chair of the Tetherless World Research Constellation. She is one of the creators of the Web language that is ushering in the next generation of the World Wide Web. Rensselaer Chosen Among the Top 60 Design Schools In the World October 12, 2007: Rensselaer has been counted among the 60 “most forward-thinking design schools” in the world, according to BusinessWeek magazine’s second annual survey of the best design schools around the globe. Nanotechnology Initiative Presents Research Opportunities for Rensselaer Students September 10, 2007: A new partnership between Rensselaer, Sandia National Laboratories, and a select group of leading universities and corporations will present Rensselaer graduate students with a host of new cutting-edge internship and research experiences. President’s Commencement Colloquy To Air on WMHT-TV “Balancing on the Knife-Edge: Politics, Technology, and Ethics” August 20, 2007: The 2007 President’s Commencement Colloquy, which featured four individuals who have shaped the international discourse on some of today’s most pressing issues, is scheduled to air twice in the coming week on WMHT-TV. Rensselaer Once Again Ranks Among the Nation’s Top 50 Universities August 17, 2007: For the eighth year in a row, Rensselaer has been counted among the top 50 universities in the nation, according to U.S.News & World Report. The Institute was ranked 44th among all national universities and listed as one of the top 25 colleges in the publication’s “Great Schools, Great Prices” category. Rensselaer Senior Spends Summer at NASA Researching Space Technology July 5, 2007: Senior Phillip Bracken scored a front-row seat June 8 to watch the space shuttle Atlantis take off and embark on its 11-day mission. He is one of only 18 college students from across the nation to be accepted into a summer internship program at NASA’s Goddard Academy. Robert Palazzo Appointed Provost of Rensselaer June 28, 2007: Robert E. Palazzo, director of the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies, and professor of biology at Rensselaer, has been appointed to the position of provost after a rigorous national search. Palazzo assumed his new position July 1. Career Development Center Wins National Award for Undergraduate Program June 1, 2007: When it comes to identifying, planning for, and achieving career goals, undergraduate students are getting a head start from the Career Development Center at Rensselaer.
