What is Space School...?

Astronauts in training
For astronauts, school plays a critical role in their success in space.

Space school is a place where people with diverse interests can go to learn more about the importance of space exploration.  The authors, which include scientists and school teachers, have gathered information and numerous Internet links for teachers and students all over the country to access for use in the classroom and in home study.  There are lessons dealing with many aspects of the human endeavor into space, all of which are separated by grade levels K-4, 4-8, and 9-12.

How to Navigate
The various sections of the Space School web pages are accessible through the menu of links at the top of each page.  Additionally, the home "Space Week" web page is also available there.

Space Factoid
Typical space vehicles orbiting the earth like the Space Shuttle or the MIR Space Station, travel over the ground at over 17,000 miles per hour!  This is so fast, that they go all the way around the Earth, seeing a new sunrise every 90 minutes!

Space Week
The Space School web pages attempt to provide focus on the educational aspects of the Space Week event being conducted at Rensselaer between April 5th and 11th of 1999.
