What fiction could match - in drama or suspense - man's first walk on the Moon? - Leonard Nimoy, Mr. Spock of "Star Trek."
Rensselaer Remembers

Thomas Phelan
Institute Dean and Institute Historian

"What is most vivid in my mind is the first look back at Planet Earth,
the whole earth brushed with atmosphere.  I like the pictures documenting
life within the space craft, and I'm hoping that some day I will experience
weightlessness.  The moon surface fascinates me, especially because of its
likeness with some of earth's landscape.  But to be able to take in all of
Earth at a single glance, to have an overall view of night and day, to
imagine life of all sorts (plant, animal, human) breathing, growing, dying,
is a WOW for me.  If only I was 50 years younger!"
