These patterns are similar (in principal) to the ones studied by the IDGE. |

The Isothermal Dendritic
Growth
Experiment
(IDGE)
is a continuing investigation of dendritic solidification processes. The
IDGE is a joint effort between
Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute and NASA's Lewis
Research Center. The project is centered on the observation of
dendrites growing in the microgravity environment aboard the Space Shuttle's
USMP
platform.
This Web site is intended to serve as a convenient venue
for the exchange of information related to the IDGE.
