Henry Burlage Professor of Materials Science and Engineering
PhD Materials Science and Engineering, Northwestern University, 1989 LAB MANAGER 
Received Doctoral Degree in Solid-State Physics in 1991 from JATE University , Hungary. Performed previous post doctoral work at the Max Planck Institute, Germany and the EPFL , Lausanne, Switzerland and The Angstrom Laboratory , Sweden. Previous research involved laser light-matter interactions, sensors and nanomaterials. Current research involves the generation and experimental characterization of Carbon and Metal Nanostructures. Dr Kar is a post doctoral researcher at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Center for Integrated Electronics at RPI. His current research involves investigation of the electronic properties of single and multi-walled carbon nanotubes in various architectures from a fundamental as well as applied perspective. He did his PhD from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and afterwards held a post doctoral position at the Physikalisches Institut under Centrum für Funktionelle Nanostrukturen, Universität Karlsruhe, Germany, with Prof. Georg Weiss. 
Sangeeta received her M.Sc in Physics from University of Kalyani, India in 1999. From 2000 to 2001, she was in Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, as a junior research fellow. In 2002 , she joined as a PhD student in University of Basel, Switzerland, under the supervision of Prof. Christian Schoenenberger In 2005, she completed her PhD. Her research field includes electrical and spin transport through carbon nanotubes. Currently she is a postdoctoral research associate in RPI. 
Justin Bult received his B.S. from Colorado State University in Mechanical Engineering in 2003. While at CSU, working with both Veeco Instruments and NASA MSFC, his research pertained primarily to advanced space propulsion using ion source thrusters and the materials needed to make such thrusters. Currently Justin Bult is a Ph.D. student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute researching Single Walled Nanotube Polymer Composites for NASA JSC. 
Sumanjeet Kaur received her Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from M. S. University of Baroda, India . Her research activities include the study of the effect of capillary force at the nano-scale level and the effect of various parameters viz. solvents, substrate and electric field on the regularity and reproducibility of carbon nanotube structures. 
Sandeep completed his M.S. from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in Polymer & Textile Chemistry. His master's research involved study of thermal stability and flammability of polypropylene nanocomposites (Advisor Prof. Steven B. Warner). He is currently pursuing PhD in Materials Science & Engineering at RPI doing research in fabrication of carbon nanotube polyelectrolyte complex architectures. Other research interests include fabrication of porous alumina templates, nanocomposites and nanotube synthesis. 
Trevor was born and raised in Rhinebeck, NY. Attended Dutchess Community College (AS) and Stony Brook University (BS). Did research with Stanislaus S. Wong functionalizing nanotubes with inorganic moeities. Developed strong organic chemistry skills with Prof. Dreuckhammer's group at Stony Brook. Has interests in nanotechnology applications and improved synthesis and dispersion of nanotubes. 
Received B.S. degree in physics from University of Bari, Italy in 2002 and M.S. degree in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY in 2004. Currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Prof Ajayan’s group with research focus on electrical properties of different nanostructures. |
