Software to install on your laptop

Participants in the Mobile Computing Program can purchase the media for a Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit upgrade for $25 at the Campus Computer Store. Please note that because this media is for an upgrade, a valid Windows operating system must already be in place on the laptop.

Microsoft Office Professional 2010 is also available to Mobile Computing participants for $20 at the Campus Computer Store.

If you're interested in purchasing this media, please remember to bring your Rensselaer ID and a printout of your SIS laptop status page indicating that you acquired your laptop through Rensselaer.

Linux on your laptop

To install Red Hat Linux or another Unix PC operating system, bring your laptop to the VCC Help Desk.

Red Hat Linux is the version supported by DotCIO.
