Important new information regarding Windows 7Students who currently have a W500, T61p, T61, or T60 laptop under Rensselaer's Mobile Computing Program can now re-image their laptop with a 32-bit version of the Windows 7 operating system. A 64-bit Windows 7 base image will be available on March 1, 2010 for the W500, T61p, and T61. The 64-bit Windows 7 base image will include:
32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade media, which checks for a legal copy of Windows installed on your computer, is available to students participating in the Mobile Computing Program through the Rensselaer Campus Computer Store for $20. You can use this upgrade media to do a recommended "clean" install of Windows 7; for a "clean" install, back up your files to external media, reformat the hard disk, install Windows 7, and re-install your applications.
