What is a RAD account and how do I add money to my son or daughter's RAD account?

The RAD account is a program where a student can use their Rensselaer ID as a debit card for various establishments on campus such as: all of the Sodexo venues and dining halls; Father's Marketplace, Ben & Jerry's, as well as the laundry rooms. The RAD program is not, however, accepted at the bookstore. Money can be added to a RAD account at anytime, and any unused money rolls over into the next semester. Money can be put onto this card via check, cash, or credit by contacting the Campus Card Office at (518) 276-6670 or email to campuscard@rpi.edu.

NEW for January 2009 - Add funds to your student's account online! See the notice below from the Campus Card staff:

The Campus Card Office is pleased to announce that the NEW “On Line Campus Card Office” is up and running.

The main purpose of this new site is to support the Rensselaer Advantage Dollar Account (RAD) Program. RAD is a campus declining balance account which is added directly to the Rensselaer ID Card. RAD can be used at Dining Locations, Café’s, Houston Field House box office, vending machines, laundry and Ben & Jerry’s.

There are many benefits to having a Student RAD account: it is an enhancement to the dining plan and is tax exempt (except for items that NYS requires to be taxed), there are no set up fees, no annual fees and the balance rolls forward from year to year. Most importantly, you don’t have to worry about your student carrying cash.

Please sign on at: http://campuscard.rpi.edu to learn how easy it is for your student to make a deposit using a major credit card (MC/Visa), check their account balance, review transactions, obtain a monthly statement and get answers to the most frequently asked questions. There are also full details explaining how to make a guest deposit with MC/Visa by any family member to a student’s Rensselaer Advantage Dollars Account (RAD). Since the transactions process immediately, this eliminates the worry that a student will run out of funds. If you have additional questions or would like to discuss the site, contact us by phone at (518) 276-6670 or email at campuscard@rpi.edu.
