Dear Parents and Family Members:

As we begin another academic year, I invite you to celebrate all that Rensselaer has to offer by joining us for Family Weekend 2009, October 23-25. This weekend is designed for you, our extended family, and we hope to give you the opportunity to experience campus in a myriad of ways.

Family Weekend 2009 will be a robust experience at Rensselaer this year, packed with activities and events that truly showcase our students and community. If you enjoy athletics, you will not want to miss our event this year! With two Men’s and two Women’s Ice Hockey games at home as well as a Football game at our new East Campus Athletic Village, there will be plenty of opportunities to root for Red & White. In addition to athletics, there will be installations and performances in the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center that we hope you will enjoy. Our International Festival is always exciting, and I hope you will stop by and sample some of the wonderful offerings the students provide from around the world. You will have the chance to experience campus life through entertainment by our student groups, learn more about the opportunities for undergraduate research and study abroad, as well as discover how your student can get even more involved on campus. During Family Weekend, we encourage you to explore the historic city of Troy; use your Parent Discount Card to patronize local establishments and discover all that Troy has to offer! There is sure to be something for everyone, and more importantly, a chance for the Rensselaer community to join together and celebrate.

I look forward to seeing you on campus in October.

Best wishes,

Shirley Ann Jackson, Ph.D.
President, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
