Welcome!
Congratulations on your acceptance and decision to attend Rensselaer! The Office of the First-Year Experience is excited to welcome you as a part of the Rensselaer community this summer and fall.
Orientation marks the beginning of your membership into the Rensselaer family. The purpose of orientation is to help you make a seamless transition from high school to your new life as a Rensselaer student. This website is a supplement to the “This is Orientation” booklet mailed home as part of the Student Orientation confirmation packet. Rensselaer offers a comprehensive, two-part orientation experience for all incoming students consisting of Student Orientation (SO) and Navigating Rensselaer & Beyond (NRB).

Student Orientation is almost here!
Below are some reminders and notes:
- Check-in will occur from 8:30 - 9:15 a.m. on Day 1 of your session at the Rensselaer Union.
- Please follow the directions to campus provided in the “This is Orientation” booklet for the best experience. These directions will lead you to marked and staffed parking lots. Shuttles will also bring you to the Rensselaer Union from the designated parking lots. Please note if you park on 15th Street, you will need to pay at the meters.
- The program will be done by noon on Day 2.
- The student and parent sessions are completely separate - there will be little opportunity to get together until the program has ended. We recommend planning to meet up at the Closing Session on Day 2.
Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. We look forward to meeting you and your families!
