Welcome To Our Research Group
Professor E. Fred Schubert's research group in the
Future Chips Constellation focuses on semiconductor optoelectronic devices and materials. Studies include epitaxial growth and characterization of III-Nitrides, design-fabrication-characterization of light-emitting diodes for solid-state lighting applications, and novel optical materials with high- and low-refractive indices for energy-efficient lighting and solar-cell applications.
Our resources include five research labs and currently 17 group members. The labs, namely
MOCVD Lab, MOCVD Supporting Lab, Optical Characterization Lab, Electrical Characterization Lab and Processing Lab, are located on the 7th floor of the Center for Industrial Innovation (CII) building at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and occupy approximately 2500 sq.ft. of area. We also have full access to the 10,000 sq.ft. Class 100 clean room located on the 4th floor of the same building. The group members include professors, visiting scholars, post-doc fellows, technician, graduate and undergraduate students from all parts of the world.
