Description
An integrated course on the international aspects of the modern
corporation emphasizing global supply chains, cross border business
relationships, globalization of high performance operations practices
and corporate cultures, and international diffusion of technical
and management knowledge. The course will provide students with
a basic understanding of business decision making in a global
environment.
Prerequisites
Undergraduate degree in business or course in Operations Management
(MGMT-4110) or permission of instructor.

Format
Classes: 5 weeks, 5 full Saturdays = 25 sessions over 10 weeks
On-line discussion of readings: Comments and analyses on a discussion board topic related to the readings and videos for each session.
Individual Essay: Scholarly analysis, with references, of current thinking on an important topic in International Business. (7 to 10 pages)
Team Project: Analysis of a real international business decision of a company with which team member are familiar. (about 25 pages)
Grading
Essay: 30%
Project: 40%
Blackboard Discussion Board and in-class participation: 30%
Computing
Microsoft Office along with access to a Blackboard compatible browser and email. Students will be required to access the Institute's Folsom library through the Rensselaer Computing System (RCS) and Blackboard.
E-mail access is required for course communications.
