Description
This course covers the basic methods and concepts of quality and
reliability. It provides technical material and discusses some
management issues of quality. The major topics of this course
include quality systems, assessment of quality, reliability engineering,
basic data analysis and presentation, probability, Deming and
Taguchi Concepts, experimental designs, and quality control charts.
Prerequisites
Since this is a quantitative course, background knowledge in probabilities,
statistics, and quality control is needed. Familiarity with calculus
is required.

Minitab 13 (or latest version) is required and available for purchase
through the textbook vendor Email and World Wide Web access required
for course communications, use of WebCT, and printing of course
notes. Project will require using either a spreadsheet or a programming
language.
