Systems
Description
The course will provide the student with a fundamental understanding
of the concepts, methods and techniques of the information and
decision sciences, including: recognizing the role of contemporary
information and decision technologies in managing human, material
and monetary resources; gaining an understanding of the normative
and descriptive theories of the decision sciences; and developing
familiarity with the information technologies of the Internet,
case tools and expert systems. Topics include information and
decision systems in organizational decision-making, database systems,
knowledge systems, system analysis and design, networks and telecommunications
in information systems, and information systems for service delivery.

Computing
Email and World Wide Web access required for course communications
and printing of course notes (students will be required to download
demonstration software packages from the web, complete an exercise
in Excel or Access and email it back to the campus). Students
will also be expected to construct a personal web page using tools
of their choice.
