Description
Focus on developing competence for database systems analysis, design, and processing. Additional topics such as data and rules modeling, integrity, data languages, DBMS, and distributed databases are also covered. The course presents a high-level look at design and operation issues from the perspective of information systems. Projects are required.
Prerequisites
Knowledge equivalent to a graduate level introductory Information
Systems course such as Information Technology and Systems for
E-Business (DSES-6570) or from prior professional experience.
Also required is proficiency with end-user level PC computing,
such as the knowledge of MS Access and the ability to learn basic
Web authoring by self-efficacy. Internet access to campus Oracle
server optional, not required.

Computing
E-mail and Web access required for course communications, use of Blackboard, and printing of course notes/materials. Also required are recent editions of MS Access, Word, Power point, and optionally a dedicated Web authoring package. A personal computer that is sufficient for running all of the above software and applications is needed.
