The Department
of Computer Science prepares students for solving applied,
real-world problems and for doing research in computer science.
The program at all levels provides the students with a solid grounding
in both theory and practice. The department consists of 19 faculty,
renowned nationally and internationally for their work. Major
research areas include computer vision, engineering database systems,
high performance computing, high-level hardware synthesis, human
machine interfaces, image and signal processing, numerical computing,
parallel processing, software design, and theoretical computer
science.
