Students interested in a certificate program or in taking individual courses must apply for non-matriculated admission to Rensselaer. Admission as a non-matriculated student does not guarantee future admission to a degree program; therefore, students who wish to pursue a master’s degree in the future should be aware of the additional admission requirements for the degree program in which they are interested.
Students must submit the following to the Office of Graduate Education—Outreach Programs:
- Graduate application for Education for Working Professionals
- One official transcript reflecting a bachelor’s degree or the highest degree earned. To expedite the review process, unofficial transcripts may be submitted with your application; however, official transcripts must be received prior to the second week of your first semester. In cases where essential background courses were taken elsewhere, unofficial transcripts from other colleges may also be required.
- Registration form (you will be officially registered for your course(s) upon admission to Rensselaer)
- Application fee payable to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (this fee is waived for Rensselaer alumni)
- Statement of background and goals (for some certificates — see program descriptions)
- Copy of VISA documents (for international students)
- Resume
