CLEANER Workshop

The CLEANER (Collaborative Large-scale Engineering Analysis Network for Environmental Research) initiative is being developed by a large community of scientists and engineers and with the strong encouragement of the Directorate of Engineering at the National Science Foundation. CLEANER will be a networked infrastructure of environmental field facilities that enables formulation and development of engineering and policy options for the restoration and protection of environmental resources. This will be the sixth in a series of workshops that began in December, 2001. An NSF Power Point presentation on CLEANER is included on this website for your reference.

The goal of the workshop will be to define clear links of CLEANER to cyberinfrastructure and other research themes under discussion at the National Science Foundation, and to recommend next steps in the CLEANER initiative that can be linked directly into programmatic goals of NSF.

In addition, we plan to highlight environmental challenges of the Hudson River and Estuary and will discuss current scientific, technological, and adaptive management approaches being undertaken.
