Step One: Using the Enlarger
The following section contains step-by-step instructions for the operation of an enlarger.
- Get out the negative strip you wish to make a print from.
- Take the negative carrier out of the enlarger by using the negative carrier on the left of the enlarger.
- Put the negative into the negative carrier, shiny side up.
- Place the negative carrier back into the enlarger.
- Place the timer in "focus" mode.
- Get out your easel and place it on the enlarger's base.
- Adjust the enlarger up or down so that your frame fills the easel space.
- Use the focus knob to adjust the focus of the image projected onto the easel.
- Turn the timer off "focus" mode and be sure the enlarger is turned off.
- Get out one piece of printing paper.
- Open the easel and set the paper in it.
- Turn the timer "on" for a set amount of time.
- Pull the paper out and take it to the sink area.
