The Engineer
RPI's student-run technical magazine!
What is the Engineer?
The Engineer is a Union-funded and -recognized club,
committed to covering stories of technical progress at RPI. Each
semester, it produces a glossy, color-and-black/white 28-32-page
magazine with ads, with a press run of about 2500. These copies are
distributed free around the campus, and to the School of Engineering.
Alumni and other entities outside RPI may purchase subscriptions.
Articles are researched and written primarily by staff
writers, although we sometimes commission work. In addition, we
usually have a column by the Dean of the School of Engineering.
Why does the Engineer now have an online presence?
Firstly, the Union encourages all the clubs to establish Web
pages on RPInfo.
Secondly, the Web provides a useful tool to centralize
important club information.
Finally, it's possible to provide a version of the magazine
online; for archival purposes, for access from outside RPI, and for
those who didn't procure a hardcopy.
